Syngonium wendlandii (commonly known as the Velvet Syngonium or Silver Goosefoot) is a striking tropical aroid native to Costa Rica. It is highly prized by collectors for its elegant, deeply lobed, arrowhead-shaped leaves that feature a soft, velvety matte texture and a brilliant, silvery-white central vein.

Unlike many common Syngonium varieties that have smooth or glossy leaves, S. wendlandii stands out because of its rich, dark emerald coloration and touchable foliage. It has an adaptable growth habit; it remains compact and bushy when young but will vigorously climb or trail as it matures.

Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its vibrant variegation. While it tolerates medium or even low light, insufficient light may cause the pink spots to fade and the plant to become "leggy". Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but never soggy. Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot, which is the most common issue.
Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix rich in organic matter, such as an aroid mix containing bark, coco fiber, and perlite, to ensure proper drainage.
Temperature & Humidity: Thrives in warm temperatures between 65°F and 80°F. It enjoys moderate to high humidity; occasional misting or a nearby humidifier can help, though average household humidity is often sufficient.
Toxicity: The plant is toxic to both humans and pets (cats and dogs) due to containing calcium oxalate crystals that can cause irritation and discomfort if ingested.
