The Snake Plant Starfish (Sansevieria cylindrica 'Boncel') is a compact, sculptural succulent known for its thick, cylindrical leaves that fan out in a radial, star-like pattern. Native to tropical West Africa, it is highly prized for its modern aesthetic and "nearly indestructible" nature, making it ideal for beginners.

    • Light: Thrives best in bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate low light, growth will be slower. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

    • Watering: Water sparingly, typically every 2–3 weeks. Always allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot. In winter, reduce frequency to once a month.

    • Soil: Use a fast-draining cactus or succulent potting mix. A mix of regular potting soil with perlite and sand (2:1:1 ratio) is recommended to ensure proper aeration.

    • Temperature & Humidity: Prefers warm environments between 60°F and 85°F. It is not frost-tolerant and should not be exposed to temperatures below 50°F. It thrives in average indoor humidity.

    • Toxicity: Toxic to pets (cats and dogs) and humans if ingested, containing saponins that can cause gastrointestinal distress like nausea or vomiting.
