The Begonia maculata 'Pink Spot' is a distinct hybrid variety of the popular Polka Dot Begonia. While the standard Begonia maculata typically features silvery-white spots, this cultivar is specifically bred for its smaller, more numerous rose-pink to red-silver spots scattered across olive-green or dark maroon leaves

  • This variety is considered a more advanced houseplant and can be "dramatic" if its specific needs aren't met:

    • Light: Requires bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sun, which will scorch the leaves.

    • Water: Maintain consistent moisture. Water when the top inch of soil is dry, but avoid letting the plant sit in soggy soil, which leads to root rot.

    • Humidity: Thrives in high humidity (at least 50-70%). Use a humidifier or pebble tray, but avoid misting the leaves directly to prevent powdery mildew.

    • Temperature: Keep between 65°F and 75°F; avoid cold drafts or temperatures below 60°F.

Note on Pink Spots: If your standard Begonia maculata is developing pink spots, it could be a sign of a specific hybrid, but in some cases, extreme light or stressors can cause color shifts.
